Kaghani / Bakerwali Goat




Kaghani goat is a medium sized breed. This breed is available in white, brown, gray, or black colors and has a well-developed body. This breed is bringing up for meat and hair purposes. This breed has medium hair, short pendulous ears the same color as their coat. They have medium sized horns that spiral up for their heads. The doe has not well-developed udder but teats. It is one of the best-registered goat breeds in Pakistan and is found in Kaghan Valley (Abbottabad, Mansehra, Kohistan, and Swat) districts in Khyber Pakhtun Kha Province of Pakistan. The average height of the bucks is about 60 cm, and 55 cm for the does. The average weight of the bucks about 37kg and the average body weight of the doe is about 32kg. On average a Kaghani goat produces about 1-2 kg of long hair per year. They have an undercoat of cashmere hair which is very expensive and used for pashmina fabrics.
Special Considerations
