Labri Goat Breed
This breed is found Jhelum, Leepa and Neelam valleys of Muzaffarabad
district and Poonch district in Azad Kashmir of Pakistan. This goat breed’s
main and prominent color is black but some have patches of light grey or brown.
They are fairly large sized breed. The head is large with long ears. Both males
and females have long thick horns. Its Milk yield is 1.25 litres per lactation
day on normal fodder. Adult males and females weigh 48 and 40 kg respectively
on normal fodder. Annual fleece weight in this breed is more than 1-2 kg. Labri
goats are raised for meat, milk and hair.
Special Consideration
This goat breed is mountaineer and cold atmosphere. This goat
breed is best fitted for farming in houses
and grazing areas in cold atmosphere for
milk, meat, and hair purpose. The doe on the full extent can produces 3-4 liters
of milk daily on extensive fodder. Annual fleece weight in this breed is more
than 1-2 kg. This breed can gain 3-4 time more weight on extensive fodder.
